Milton Hershey School Changed Us – Spartans At Heart

By DeRaya Royster ’20

As soon-to-be graduates of Milton Hershey School, we are faced with the reality of the real world but will forever be spartans. As seniors, we share similar memories from our time at MHS such as classes, enjoying meals together, and attending Opening of School Assemblies, that are like no other. We will forever have our MHS memories and be a spartan family.

This journey, that is almost over, has been such a blessing. During our time at MHS, we have experienced change – whether mentality, knowledge, or personality. Whatever that change may be, I want us to acknowledge it and build on it.

We will soon collect our diplomas, say our goodbyes, and be considered alumni of this institution. Outside of this chocolate bubble is the future. The real world is not as generous, not as loving, and will not be as easy as our time here at MHS. We have to leave Hershey with the strength to conquer anything that is put in front of us

We have been successful here, but as we strive for greatness, it does not stop at MHS. It is now our job to continue to strive forward. We are all going after different goals as we graduate, but no matter the direction you choose, remember the goal. Milton and Catherine offered us these valuable tools to use them to better our futures.

Now is the time to focus on our goals and dreams for the future. We cannot be stagnant, as we move on. We need to expand on our roots and continue to grow.

Class of 2020, we have our whole lives ahead of us. We are called upon to be innovators, ambassadors, and formable to the new challenges that will impact our future for the betterment of others. As we move on from MHS, let us build upon this foundation, and maintain the integrity as we forge into a future filled with success as spartans.
