Blake Q&A:

1. How has COVID-19 impacted your role at MHS?

The COVID-19 pandemic has completely changed my role within Milton Hershey School. A majority of my job is in-person, hands-on support. This forced our Information Technology department to shift our support model, readjust, and become creative with how we provide support for the campus.

2. What is your favorite aspect of the MHS community?

The support system in place for our students and houseparents is amazing. The fact that MHS can fully function on its own, aside from the rest of the world, is impressive. Clothing, food, medical services, transportation, and technology are all provided for our students.

3. How are you keeping your future in focus this school year?

I am keeping my mind on faith and family. We do this in many ways, but one way my family and I invest in our future and others future is through service. We are very involved in many areas of ministry at our church. This ranges from helping in the children’s ministry to singing on the worship team and helping with our media team.

4. What is your favorite memory at MHS thus far?

I had the opportunity to help with an Enrollment Day and assist the MHS Admissions team with the new incoming students. It was incredible to have the chance to meet our new families and welcome them into our community. It was impactful hearing their stories of where they came from and what brought them to MHS. That day impacted my perspective and has helped me focus on the future and the impact I can make at the school.

5. Tell us something about your job that few people know?

One unknown aspect of my job is that every year I have to take several tests to become re-certified in several areas of Information Technology. Because of this, I can properly educate others and better support the ever-changing world of IT.
