MHS Staff Members Recognized for Commitment and Leadership
Milton Hershey School’s Jimmy Taylor and Sharon Henry were recently presented with Chairman’s Award for Excellence Medallions, honoring their longstanding commitment, integrity, and service to the school’s mission. Chairman Maria T. Kraus ’89 presented the medallions during the March Board of Managers meeting.
Taylor, who joined MHS in 2001 as a houseparent, has served in multiple roles, including physical education teacher and coach. Known for his student-first approach, Taylor has played a key role in shaping the culture of the school’s wrestling and football programs while supporting student-athletes on and off the field. During the 2026 Spartan football season, he stepped into a leadership role, reflecting his continued dedication to the program and its future. Colleagues cited his consistently high standards and willingness to go beyond expectations in support of students.
Henry was honored for more than 33 years of service to MHS. She started at MHS in 1992. As a mathematics teacher, she challenged students academically while emphasizing deep conceptual understanding, earning National Board Certification in Mathematics. Her impact extended beyond the classroom through her years of service as a National Honor Society advisor, coach, and club advisor. Widely recognized as a “difference-maker,” Henry built lasting relationships that continued well beyond graduation. The award coincides with her retirement and recognizes the legacy she leaves at MHS.
The Chairman’s Award for Excellence Medallion is presented to members of the MHS community who demonstrate exceptional achievement and uphold the school’s Sacred Values through their service.
