Milton Hershey School Celebrates Parents/Sponsors with Awards Ceremony

Milton Hershey School came together to celebrate outstanding parents/sponsors of students during Spring Family Weekend.

On Saturday, May 11, MHS held a ceremony to recognize recipients of the 2025 Parent/Sponsor of the Year Award. Each year, four MHS parents and sponsors are honored with this award to recognize their exceptional commitment and dedication to their children, grandchildren, and MHS.

Soleil Carrion, MHS Vice President of Finance and Shared Services, opened the ceremony by welcoming the parents/sponsors and community members in attendance.

“As a mother of two young children, I respect every parent and guardian who decides to send their child to Milton Hershey School,” said Carrion. “A decision of this magnitude takes courage, a word we believe describes every MHS parent/sponsor.”

Following the ceremony, attendees and MHS students participated in the Spartan Family Fun Run/Walk, benefitting the Family Gratitude Foundation in Honor of Gertrude Gurt, with a community lunch afterward.

The Family Gratitude Foundation in Honor of Gertrude Gurt was formed more than five years ago by a group of MHS staff members who wanted to volunteer their time to support current parents/sponsors.

This year’s Parent/Sponsor of the Year Award honorees are Peggy McWhite, Gloria Rinker, Sylvester Wah, and Harry and Nalini Gangadin.

About the Honorees:

Peggy McWhite is the wonderful parent/sponsor and great-grandmother to Antwone, Antaniya, and Kayden. Peggy is actively engaged in the MHS community, attending concerts, games, and other events that her great-grandchildren participate in. She is an incredible example of the MHS Sacred Values, encouraging her great-grandchildren to Raise the Bar in their schoolwork and personal relationships.
