Milton Hershey School Charts Bold Path to 2034 with New Strategic Framework

Milton Hershey School has launched a bold new strategic plan—The GIFT Strategic Framework—that will guide our mission and impact through 2034, marking the 125th anniversary of the Deed of Trust. More than a roadmap, The GIFT Plan is a tribute to the extraordinary gift from our founders, Milton and Catherine Hershey, and a renewed commitment to unlocking the unique gifts within every student we serve.

As we look ahead to this historic milestone, The GIFT Plan is a shared purpose—shaped by the voices of hundreds across the MHS community and beyond. It reflects both the school’s rich legacy and its readiness to meet the evolving needs of students and the world around them.

Four Imperatives for the Future

At the heart of the framework are four interconnected imperatives that will drive MHS forward:

  • Grow Our Mission and impact within and beyond the Hershey community.
  • Innovate on the Delivery of Our Mission through bold thinking and entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Fortify The Milton Hershey Way by deepening our commitment to character, career readiness, and shared values.
  • Transform Our Culture by inspiring excellence, accountability, and continuous growth.

These imperatives build on the school’s foundation of whole child education and career readiness, while positioning MHS to expand its reach and influence as a national leader in Career-Focused Education.

A Vision for 2034

By 2034, MHS aims to serve more students than ever before, with expanded programming and facilities that reflect the evolving needs of today’s youth. The framework also emphasizes data-informed decision-making, equity, and a culture of continuous improvement.

“These objectives reflect our commitment to excellence and readiness to meet the challenges of tomorrow,” MHS President Pete G. Gurt ’85 said. “By 2034, we aim to achieve a transformative leap in our impact—both within and beyond the Hershey community. Together, these goals will unlock even greater success for thousands of MHS students and alumni—past, present, and future.”
