Fourth Grade Students Celebrate Promotion to Middle Division
Milton Hershey School proudly recognized 123 fourth grade students as they marked a significant milestone during the 2026 Fourth Grade Promotion Ceremony, held in Founders Hall. Surrounded by family, parents/sponsors, and staff, the students celebrated the conclusion of their Elementary Division journey and looked ahead to their next chapter in Middle Division.
This year’s ceremony was especially meaningful as it reflected the school year theme, Our Pledge, inspired by the MHS School Pledge and the values it instills. It highlighted both academic growth and character development, underscoring how students brought Our Pledge to life each day. Whether supporting one another, speaking the truth, or contributing positively to their school, the Class of 2034 demonstrated what it means to act with integrity and purpose. These experiences have helped shape not only what they have learned, but who they are becoming as they prepare for the transition to their next Home Life and Scholastic Division.
“At the beginning of the school year, you pledged to be the best version of yourselves,” said Elementary Division Principal Amanda Smith. “You pledged to work hard and always give it your best. This is a promise you made to yourselves, your family, and the school, and you’ve done it.”
This year’s class leaves Elementary Division having built a strong foundation for future success. Their time in Memorial Hall has been marked by meaningful learning experiences, lasting friendships, and personal growth rooted in the values of the MHS School Pledge.
As the rising fifth graders prepare to transition to Catherine Hall, they were warmly welcomed by Middle Division Assistant Principal Abbie Mahaffey.
“Today is not only a celebration of what they have achieved, but also a celebration of the opportunities that lie ahead,” said Mahaffey. “As fifth graders they will continue to learn, grow, lead, and strengthen the values that make our school community so special.”
Of the 123 students promoted to fifth grade, 36 are on their way to being lifers, students who began their MHS journey in pre-K, kindergarten, or first grade. This distinction reflects their long-standing connection to the school and the deep roots they have established within the MHS community.
The ceremony also featured special recognition of students who exemplify excellence in character and community. Home Life Sacred Values Awards were presented to students who consistently demonstrate the school’s guiding principles and embody the spirit of the School Pledge in their daily actions.
In addition, Inspiration Awards honored students who have uplifted others through encouragement, leadership, and a positive spirit—bringing the words of the pledge to life in meaningful ways.
As the ceremony concluded, Elementary Division Assistant Principal Travis Smith expressed gratitude to families, sponsors, teachers, and staff for their unwavering support and dedication.
The Class of 2034 now looks ahead with excitement and confidence, ready to embrace new challenges and opportunities in Middle Division while carrying forward the values and memories from their elementary years.
