Senior Student-Athletes Recognized for Their Efforts On and Off the Field

Seniors Michelle Rodgers and Darius Briggs were recognized as C.S. “Pop” Kelchner nominees at the Central Chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame’s 36th Annual Prayer Breakfast on May 19.

Each year, Milton Hershey School participates in this event focused on honoring student-athletes who have made tremendous efforts in their sports and their school work during their senior year. Both students were nominated by their coaches for their dedication, positive attitudes, and willingness to go the extra mile.

“I am proud that I received this award because, as a student-athlete, you have to work hard and prioritize everything in order to make sure you can excel in both academics and sports,” said Michelle.

After graduation, Michelle plans to attend Duquesne University. Darius will be continuing his education at The Pennsylvania State University. Both Darius and Michelle have hopes of participating in intramural sports in college.

“At MHS, many people say we are a family, and throughout my sports career, I started to believe that more and more. Crowds of people, some I didn’t even know, have gone out of their way to support me in every single way possible,” said Darius.
