Milton Hershey School Students Experience “Day in the Life” Speaker Series with HE&R

In the final week leading up to the 2021-22 school year, 535 Milton Hershey School Senior Division students participated in a “Day in the Life” speaker series with Hershey Entertainment & Resorts (HE&R) employees.

The two-day speaker series allowed professionals from different career areas within the HE&R community to share their career journeys, explain how they got to work at HE&R, describe what they do in their roles, and give some behind-the-scenes knowledge of careers in hospitality.

“We see these companies from the outside and wonder how they get so big and can operate so efficiently,” said MHS senior Nina Farley. “Today we saw on a smaller level how each department works together and they were all really passionate about the work they do.”

As an entity partner, HE&R works alongside MHS employees to create opportunities for our students to learn from professionals and gain real-world experience in their desired career path. It’s an opportunity for them to have high-level exposure to executives and front-line employees—opportunities that aren’t often offered to high school students.

Next year, MHS and HE&R are hoping to provide more interactive experiences by taking the students behind the scenes at various locations within the HE&R properties in Hershey, Pa.

Experiences like this allow MHS entity partners to continue the legacy of Milton and Catherine Hershey—who strongly believed in the power of community and being Greater Together.
