Milton Hershey School Staff Member and Alumnus Receive Safety Awards

On Sept. 24, Milton Hershey School Senior Director of Campus Safety Rick Gilbert and Detective Sergeant of Criminal Investigations Division within the Susquehanna Township Police Department Shawki Lacey ’92 received awards at the annual ASIS International Seminar, Central Pennsylvania Chapter. The seminar was held at Milton Hershey School’s Purcell Friendship Hall.

ASIS International, the world’s largest membership organization for security management professionals, administers two awards each year. This year, they awarded Rick Security Professional of the Year and Shawki Law Enforcement Officer of the Year.

Rick was honored to be nominated for and then receive the award. It recognizes his contributions to the security industry and his career achievements within the Safety and Security Department at MHS.

“We are committed to MHS kids and professionalism of the industry,” Rick said.

Receiving the award alongside an alumnus made the recognition even more memorable.

“It shows the significance of the school when you have two awards being awarded to an alum and a staff of MHS,” he said.

Milton Hershey School does not discriminate in admissions or other programs and services on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin, ancestry, sex, religious creed or disability. Read important MHS policies on equal opportunity and diversity, equal employment opportunity, and more.
