Milton Hershey School Celebrates 2023 Fourth-Grade Promotion Ceremony

On Friday, June 9, Milton Hershey School recognized its fourth-grade students as they were promoted to Middle Division. As the 2023 Fourth-Grade Promotion Ceremony began, Amanda Smith, MHS Elementary Division Principal, welcomed guests and shared a moment with parents/sponsors.

“Today is a very bittersweet day here at Memorial Hall, we’re so sad to see these fourth-graders move on to Middle Division but we are also very excited to see what they will accomplish and do in the future their next few years until they graduate,” shared Smith. “We feel so honored to have been part of the opportunity to watch these outstanding young people grow and mature over the last few years.”

Teachers recognized each of the 108 fourth-grade students, who received a promotion certificate and a gift to honor their transition to Middle Division.

During the ceremony, administrators recognized students for their achievements inside and outside of the classroom. An “Elementary Lifetime” award recognized 50 students who enrolled at MHS in pre-kindergarten, kindergarten, or first grade. The special group is known as “lifers“.

Students also received recognition for following the MHS Sacred Values of commitment to mission, integrity, positive spirit, and mutual respect. Two students were honored with “Good Citizenship” awards for their positive energy throughout all areas of their lives, and 16 students were honored with an “Inspiration” award.

As this incredible moment came to a close, Travis Smith, MHS Elementary Division Assistant Principal, shared final words of congratulations with students.
