MHS Welcomes Parents/Sponsors to Campus for 2018 Fall Family Weekend

Milton Hershey School recently welcomed parents/sponsors to campus for the school’s 2018 Fall Family Weekend. During the three-day event, parents/sponsors participated in fall-themed activities with their children and received a firsthand look at what students have been learning this school year.

On Friday, parents/sponsors shadowed students during classes and attended informational meetings with Home Life administrators. They also participated in Spartan Sponsor Academy—an interactive workshop designed to help parents/sponsors learn about student life at MHS, discuss strategies for helping students overcome homesickness, and understand their role as a parent/sponsor.

Fall-themed activities took place during Fall Family Weekend. Parents/sponsors enjoyed the elementary costume parade and treat night, and high school seniors hosted a fall festival with pumpkin painting, crafts, and music. These activities allowed students and parents/sponsors to create lasting memories and bonds.

Many parents/sponsors also cheered on the Spartans during Friday’s away football game at Steelton-Highspire. They also enjoyed live performances from the Visual and Performing Arts department, including Senior Division’s fall play, “Check Please!” and Middle Division’s musical, “The Little Mermaid, Jr.”

The weekend ended with a family brunch and movie. Fall Family Weekend is an annual event that allows parents/sponsors to engage with their children, meet MHS staff across campus, and celebrate students’ accomplishments and passions.
