Milton Hershey School Teams Up with NBA’s Terance Mann for Youth Basketball Camp

This summer, Milton Hershey School hosted the second annual Terance Mann Complete Player Foundation (TMCPF) basketball camp for students at MHS and local school districts in the surrounding area.

The day camp was built to help young athletes interested in basketball grow their skills and confidence. Starting their day off with stretches and conditioning, the students prepared themselves for a full schedule of fundamental drills, competitive games, and team-building exercises.

“When you can connect with a professional basketball player and his circle of people, you’re going to get camp counselors who understand basketball at an elite level,” said MHS Junior Varsity Basketball Coach Caleb Young. “Not only do they help the students learn more about basketball, but they also are great role models for the kids.”

One of the most unforgettable parts of the day was when campers heard from Daynia La-Force, Terance Mann’s mother, and a respected figure in college basketball. She spoke about the benefits of a private residential school education and how Mann’s academic journey put him on a path to the National Basketball Association.

Later, joining virtually between NBA practices, Brooklyn Nets shooting guard Mann spoke with the camp.

“Boarding school challenged me both academically and athletically,” said Mann. “The small class sizes allowed me to create strong connections with my teachers and playing against some of the best talent in the country pushed me to elevate my game. Now, I want to give others the same opportunity to grow and thrive—on and off the court.”

The camp continues to build momentum. Combining community, education, and athletics, TMCPF reminds students that success isn’t just about what happens on the court, but also about the choices they make off of it.
