“This is an important opportunity for Lydia to rehearse and perform with the best high school musicians in the Central region under the direction of a notable guest conductor,” said Ed Varner, MHS Director of Visual and Performing Arts. “We are very proud of her accomplishment.”

After performing with the District 7 Honors Orchestra in January of 2019, Lydia auditioned for the PMEA Central Region Orchestra Festival. She is the first MHS strings musician to be invited to perform with the regional orchestra.

The festival will be held at Jersey Shore Senior Area High School from Feb. 20-22, 2019. The guest conductor for the festival is Maestro Gerardo Edelstein, Director of Orchestral Studies at the Pennsylvania State University.
