MHS Seniors Build Connections During Female Empowerment Event

On Wednesday, Oct. 24, 50 MHS female seniors attended a social event through the “Hugs and Kisses from Catherine” program.

The event, which was held at the Hershey Rose Garden Conservatory, was an opportunity for students to network with successful women in the Hershey community, MHS alumni, and MHS staff.

The theme of this year’s event was “Be Empowered, Give Encouragement.” Students and attendees toured the butterfly house, made a fall craft, and enjoyed culinary dishes from Hershey Entertainment & Resorts.

“Hugs and Kisses from Catherine” is a campus-wide program inspired by Catherine Hershey and established by Jane Gurt, wife of MHS President Pete Gurt ’85. The program encourages and empowers female students of all ages—connecting them to the history of MHS and the independent and compassionate nature of Catherine Hershey.
