Milton Hershey School Students Raise the Bar with Pride

By Zarabelle Williams, MHS Seventh Grade Student

A good student takes failure to heart, but a better student uses failure to their advantage. I have observed that, like other students, I apply the idea of raising the bar in my daily life through challenges that we can learn from: our schoolwork, relationships, and hobbies, as well as through the actions and attitudes that we express.

This school year, I have pushed myself by joining multiple activities, challenging me to balance my time. We all have strengths and weaknesses. One of my weaknesses may be another’s strength. The beauty of this diversity is that we can all learn from each other and give each other a boost. Overall, pushing ourselves and others to do better benefits our environment at MHS.

Furthermore, we Raise the Bar in our schoolwork, relationships, and hobbies by showing pride. We finish our assignments, share smiles, and take time after school to consistently improve our work. In our daily lives, we Raise the Bar with pride.

Our actions and attitudes are very significant in our goals as students. Being kind creates a positive environment and will push other students to Raise the Bar. On the other hand, being unkind will allow others to create a mental image of what not to be and pushes them away from their goals. How we present ourselves can have a big impact on other students. We should be mindful of the way we talk to others and also the problems that can build up with the wrong attitude.

My experience of raising the bar this school year has benefited me, and I believe our student body as a whole has seen much progress thanks to the 2024-25 school year theme.
