Milton Hershey School Senior Division is Springing into Motion This May

By Michelle Weber, MHS Student Government Association Coordinator

This May, Milton Hershey School Senior Division was challenged to track their physical activity and stay “Spartan Strong” by joining the Spring into Motion™ health and wellness campaign. This four-week online program has inspired over 400 Senior Division students, staff, and mentors to increase their physical activity together as we close out our 2020-21 school year. Using an interactive website or mobile device app to receive daily tips, our community continues to find more creative ways to virtually support each other.

Spring into Motion™ is an online physical activity platform. Senior Division staff and students can virtually support, communicate, and track each other’s activity levels as they explore a variety of “spring” things, including animals, weather patterns, and leisure activities. Weekly prizes are raffled off for all active participants. There are also fun competitions between teams and individuals on the leaderboard which foster camaraderie and teamwork.

As we continue to keep Our Future in Focus, our goal is for the Senior Division family to model character and well-being. This wellness initiative promotes teamwork to strengthen community engagement. What better way to help our students finish this year than by modeling, supporting, and encouraging them to prioritize their health?

Interested in supporting a Senior Division participant? You, too, can virtually support our staff, mentors, and students by re-focusing your health goals!

Although Spring into Motion™ registration is closed, our MHS community members can continue to support all engaged staff and students by using the MHS Sacred Values.

Positive Spirit: Reach out to a Senior Division staff member or student to support and inspire them to have healthy, active, and productive days. Join in and challenge them to keep their goals in focus until the end of the campaign.

Commitment to Mission: Help us lead by modeling physical and mental well-being.  Following in our founders’ footsteps of leading a healthy and productive life, encourage your department, teams, and students to be more active throughout the day.

Mutual Respect: Collaborate and strengthen connections among our staff and students by sharing and keeping each other accountable. Support a community member and, most importantly, our students by celebrating their accomplishments and encouraging them to continue on their health journey.

Integrity: Help a community member keep their health and fitness standards high and help others to do likewise. Keep track of daily progress accurately and hold each other accountable to finish this year Spartan Strong.
