Lines of the MHS School Pledge

  • I will keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight.
  • I will keep my standards high and help others to do likewise.
  • In my relations with others, I will live by the Golden Rule and will speak the truth at all times.
  • I pledge myself to honor, and to do all I can for the good of my school, my country, and my God.

Our Pledge Announced as Theme

Every August, MHS announces a new school-year theme at the Opening of School Assembly, which unites our community. This year marks a historic milestone, 100 years since the writing and adoption of the MHS School Pledge. Our Pledge is more than words. It’s a guide to our values, an inspiration for our character, and an anchor to our purpose. As we live out Our Pledge, this year is one of reflection and commitment.

Our Big Pledge Challenge

Shaquille O’Neal brought his larger-than-life energy to MHS to surprise our students during the Our Big Pledge Challenge event, where he played games and encouraged the students to embrace values such as strength, purpose, and perseverance. The event reminded us what the School Pledge calls us to do:

  • Look in the mirror to grow.
  • See out the window to serve.
  • And walk through the door to the kind of life where legends are made.

Reflecting on Our Growth

Over the last five years, the Our Future in Focus Strategic Plan—also known as the MILT Plan—guided us through a period of growth and expansion, including the exciting launch of Catherine Hershey Schools for Early Learning.

Since then, we have announced our next chapter: The GIFT Strategic Framework. This new framework builds on that momentum and will help us continue to grow Milton and Catherine Hershey’s gift into the next generation, ensuring our mission remains strong for years to come.
