Pursue a Career Worth Every Minute

Houseparents work with their spouses to teach children skills and values outside the classroom. It’s a unique role with countless benefits.

Why Become a Houseparent?

Milton Hershey School employs more than 250 houseparent couples that live on campus full time. Houseparent couples live in a private apartment connected to a student home where they care for a small group of students over several years. It’s an inclusive, diverse work community with special houseparent social events and trainings, and a built-in support system.

MHS offers a generous total compensation package of approximately $165,000, including housing, groceries, utilities, benefits, and a combined pre-tax salary of $89,536.

A Rewarding Career

Houseparenting is not a typical job, it is an exceptional role. Day in and day out, houseparents embrace the fun challenges that come with the unique position of caring for and supporting MHS students. See how in the video below.
