Athletic Director: Bob Guyer

MHS Athletic Director Bob Guyer began his career in education and athletics in 1975 with a bachelor’s degree in education from Clarion University. He has 41 years of successful teaching and coaching experience—33 of which have been at MHS.

In 1984, he was promoted to head football coach at MHS. Guyer helped lead the team to four Mid-Penn Conference championships and six District III playoff appearances.  Many MHS football players have continued their football careers at the collegiate level thanks to Guyer’s motivation and support.

Guyer received four Mid-Penn/District III Coach of the Year awards, and also was inducted into the MHS Sports Hall of Fame and PA Sports Hall of Fame. When he retired from his position as head football coach in 2008, he received the designation of “Ultimate Character Coach.”

As athletic director, he provides outstanding leadership and direction for the entire athletic department. He has established a comprehensive Fitness Education Program, including curriculum development, equipment selection, and faculty guidance, that has been recognized as one of the most effective high school fitness programs in Pennsylvania.

Guyer continues to lead the athletic staff, student athletes, and each program within the athletic department with a loyal, consistent, and selfless attitude.
