Benefits Overview

From medical, dental, and vision to flexible spending accounts and tuition reimbursement, the list of Milton Hershey School benefits for full-time employees is extensive.

Benefits Effective Date

Benefits are effective the first day of the month following start date  or  the same as the employee’s start date if it’s the first day of the month.

Medical Insurance

Eligible employees may participate in two options of the PPOBlue plan (Preferred Provider Organization) that is administered by Highmark Blue Shield.  View the plan

Dental Insurance

Eligible employees may participate in two options of the Milton Hershey School group dental plan that is administered by United Concordia. View the plan

Vision Insurance

Eligible employees may participate in the Milton Hershey School group vision plan that is administered by National Vision Administrators. View the plan

Benefit Plan Eligibility

Milton Hershey School must ensure all dependents meet eligibility requirements for its benefits plans. View   eligibility rules and documentation required.  

Life Insurance

Eligible employees may participate in the Milton Hershey School life insurance plan.

Short-Term Illness and Long-Term Disability

Eligible employees may participate in the Milton Hershey School salary continuance, sick leave and long-term disability programs.

Retirement

Eligible employees may participate in the Milton Hershey School 403(b) Plan and the Money Purchase Plan that is administered by TIAA-CREF.

Tuition Reimbursement Program

Eligible employees may participate in the Milton Hershey School tuition reimbursement program.

Professional Development Program

Eligible employees may participate in on-site professional development course offerings.

Vacation – 12 month employees only

Eligible employees may receive up to 12 days of vacation to start. Vacation benefits increase with years of service.

Personal Days

Employees may  be eligible for  personal days, in addition to vacation and holidays. 

Holiday Schedule

Eligible employees may receive the following holidays:

  • New Year’s Day
  • Presidents’ Day (Two days)
  • Two  days for spring break
  • Memorial Day
  • 4th of July
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving day + day after
  • Two  days during winter break

Athletic Club & Wellness Program

Eligible employees, with approval, may use the following MHS Athletic facilities free of charge: indoor/outdoor track; tennis, volley and basketball courts; soccer, baseball and softball fields; swimming pool; fitness room; and ice skating rink. The school supports employees’ healthy lifestyles by providing corporate rates to several local fitness clubs and by providing partial reimbursement for any yearly fitness club membership.

EAP Program

MHS  sponsors this benefit to improve the personal and professional lives of employees and their families. Telephone counseling is available 24 hours a day, seven  days a week, with up to three in-office sessions with a provider.
