MHS is currently seeking part-time Hairstylists to work up to 29 hours a week in the School’s Hair Salon – Spartan Styles. This position is responsible for providing services including but limited to braid styles, two-strand twist, some pressing, haircuts, etc. We provide general hair care to students from Pre-K through 12th grade. Enhancing and maintaining healthy hair for students by providing instruction in grooming and hygiene is also an important part of the job. 

Work schedule: up to 29 hours per week, Monday through Saturday. Stylists should be available to work Monday through Thursday starting at 3:00 p.m.- 9:00 p.m. and occasional Friday afternoons and Saturday mornings as needed from 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.   Approximately 20-29 hours per week when students are in school, and it cannot be guaranteed as it’s determined by scheduling requests from the students. 

This position is paid at an hourly rate (NOT “per head/tip basis”). MHS stylists are paid at an hourly rate (NOT "per head/tip basis"). Hourly pay rate: $22.71 to $37.41, pay is determined on the experience. Part-time employees are eligible for a retirement savings plan, an employee assistance program (EAP), and Hershey area discounts. 

 

Qualifications:

  • Current PA State Certification.
  • Barber or Cosmetology License.
  • Strong Barbering skills (scissor & clipper cuts). 
  • Strong Braiding skills.
  • Prior experience working in a professional beauty/barber shop, preferred.
  • Experience working with youth and giving hair care services to children from Pre-K to 12 grades.
  • Demonstrated professional demeanor and solid time management & organizational skills required.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate in a diverse workplace and to interact professionally with adults, children, and youth.
  • Skills in Microsoft & Google applications, Internet, preferred.
  • Proficiency in Spanish a plus.  
  • Candidates should be willing to actively engage with students beyond the scope of their job responsibilities. 
  • Must demonstrate a high level of integrity, as all MHS Staff are role models for MHS Students.
