Enriching the Local Community
The M.S. Hershey Foundation (The Foundation) is a nonprofit organization established in 1935 by Milton S. Hershey to promote educational and cultural enrichment for the citizens of Derry Township. The Foundation operates The Hershey Story Museum, Hershey Gardens, Hershey Theatre, and Hershey Community Archives.
In 1935, Mr. Hershey set aside 5,000 shares of company stock to fund the Foundation. As one of the many facets of Mr. Hershey’s enduring legacy, the Foundation plays a vital role in enhancing the community he envisioned and built. Similar to Milton Hershey School, Hershey Trust Company serves as the Trustee of The M.S. Hershey Foundation.

Strengthening the Hershey Community
The Foundation helps the Hershey community through its management of four operating divisions:
- The Hershey Story—A world-class museum which guides visitors on an inspirational journey through Milton S. Hershey’s lifetime and beyond.
- Hershey Gardens—Over 23 acres of horticultural excellence, including the Milton & Catherine Hershey Conservatory.
- Hershey Theatre—A magnificent theater that has established itself as the area’s premier performing arts center.
- Hershey Community Archives—The primary resource for the study and understanding of Milton S. Hershey, his vision, his legacy, and his community.
The students at MHS benefit from these divisions through unique learning experiences and volunteering opportunities at these locations.
More Than Just a Job
