The Milton Hershey School Deed of Trust, signed in 1909 by Milton S. Hershey and his wife Catherine.

How the MHS Deed of Trust Works

When Milton and Catherine Hershey signed the Deed of Trust in 1909, they outlined their vision for the school where children learn the skills needed to succeed in a career. The Hersheys had the foresight to draft a deed that could adapt to society’s needs as we progressed through time.

Milton Hershey School now serves low-income students of all races, religions, and genders, but continues to teach students the skills they need to succeed in the job market. Hershey Trust Company Board of Directors is responsible for executing the Deed of Trust in furtherance of the Hersheys’ legacy.
