Milton Hershey School Welcomes Families to Campus for 2018 Winter Family Weekend
On March 9-11, Milton Hershey School hosted its annual Winter Family Weekend. Throughout the three-day event, students and parents/sponsors visited with one another on campus, met with teachers and administrators, attended informational workshops, enjoyed meals together, and attended visual and performing arts performances.
On Friday, parents/sponsors had the opportunity to shadow students in the classroom and eat lunch on campus. Elementary students also performed “Dr. Seuss Stories,” a compilation of vignettes of books by Dr. Seuss, for the MHS community on Friday afternoon.
Several parents/sponsors also attended Spartan Sponsor Academy, Senior Sprout Conference, and Spartan Family Network meetings to learn more about the programs and services offered at MHS. They discussed the most effective ways to support their students, prepare them for future careers, and manage homesickness and stress.
On Saturday, a Student Health Services Fair was held on campus. Through interactive activities, parents/sponsors learned more about the school’s whole child approach to education, including the dental, medical, psychology, and social work departments.
Students and their families also viewed a diverse art exhibit in the Clyde Stacks Visual Arts Gallery that showcases the multicultural and global education opportunities at MHS. On Saturday evening, students teamed up with Hershey High School for the annual H2 Talent Show—20 MHS students participated and performed exciting musical and dance numbers for the Hershey community.
Milton Hershey School’s family weekends give parents/sponsors an opportunity to tour the MHS campus, meet staff, build relationships with the MHS community, and celebrate students’ hobbies and interests.
