MHS’s New Horizons Choir Helps Announce Paul McCartney’s Hershey Concert

The harmonizing voices of Milton Hershey School’s New Horizons Choir helped unveil greatly anticipated news on Wednesday, April 13 during a Hershey Entertainment & Resort’s press conference outside Hersheypark Stadium.

The group performed “All You Need Is Love” by The Beatles as part of the announcement that former Beatle Sir Paul McCartney will bring his One On One tour to Hershey on July 19.

In an interview with FlipSidePA, a local entertainment news publication, MHS choir director Cristal Sheaffer shared the group’s reaction to the invitation to perform.

“It was very, very exciting. To be invited was a really great honor. They asked us to perform that particular piece, so we put it together in a couple of rehearsals.”

Choir students were interviewed by abc27 WHTM-TV reporter Dave Marcheskie at the press conference on what they think of Paul McCartney’s music. “I absolutely love it,” said senior Katherine Clark. “My dad is from the U.K., so I listened to it a lot growing up.”

Clark wasn’t the only MHS student with a soft spot for McCartney’s songs. Senior Alex Anderson shared with Marcheski, “I’m personally a big fan of his music. I’m not sure about other kids my age, but I love the Beatles and everything about them.”

You can catch the next New Horizons Choir’s performance at the Hershey Bears hockey game on Sunday, April 17 at Giant Center in Hershey. The group will take the ice to sing the national anthem prior to the game.

MHS provides students with a wide variety of classes, activities and performing groups through its Visual and Performing Arts program. The program offers pre-kindergarten through 12th grade instruction in visual art, dance, drama and music.
