MHS Senior Nights Bring MHS Community Together
Thursday evening was full of action for Milton Hershey School athletics. Spartan spirit packed the school’s gyms and ice hockey rink during Senior Night ceremonies that recognized senior members of the boys’ basketball, wrestling, ice hockey, and cheerleading teams.
MHS students, parents/sponsors, staff, alumni, family, and friends filled the stands to cheer on their favorite Spartans. The boys’ basketball team ended its regular season home schedule with an 88-67 victory over Cedar Cliff. Seniors Don’yae Baylor-Carroll and Pedro Rodriguez led the team with 22 points each. Don’yae, Pedro, and fellow seniors Carrington Smith, Christie Henries, and Treyvon Ferguson will lead the Spartans into postseason play on Tuesday, Feb. 13 against crosstown rivals the Hershey Trojans, who the Spartans defeated during the regular season 80-64. Senior cheerleaders Endia Perry and Danna Emile also were recognized during pre-game festivities.
Down the hall from the basketball game, the wrestling team took on Cedar Crest in its final regular season match. The team’s Senior Night honored eight seniors, including Dylan Byrd, Richard Coleman, Joe Morcos, Solomon Myers, Abiola Oladipo, Adrian Rosario, Tanner Shulski, and Bryan Tracey. The Spartans turned in a solid performance, making quick work of the visiting Falcons with a 69-6 final score.
Just outside the Spartan Gym, the ice hockey team honored its seniors on the ice prior to its game against Annville-Cleona. Senior members of the team include Frankey Borja, Austin Brewer, Joshua Ferg, Angelo Fierro, Tyrese Harper, Ethan McCord, and student manager Kalie Kostelnik. While the Spartans fell 1-10, the team was proud to celebrate its seniors’ contributions and achievements.
Adding to the excitement, senior Susanna Compare, along with the help of student home Ridgeview, held a milkshake fundraiser as part of her efforts to raise $20,000 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Fans showed their support by purchasing strawberry, chocolate, or vanilla milkshakes that they sipped in the stands while enjoying a night of competition and sportsmanship. You can contribute to Susanna’s campaign through her online donation page.
