MHS and Michigan Wrestler Bob Fehrs Honored

During a recent wrestling match between Lehigh University and his college alma mater the University of Michigan, MHS alumnus Bob Fehrs ’63 was bestowed the distinction of honorary captain. Former Lehigh wrestler and Fehrs’ college wrestling rival Mike Caruso joined him in the honor.

More than 50 years ago, Fehrs and Caruso represented their respective colleges as wrestling captains. They are the only pair of wrestlers in NCAA history to meet every year of eligibility for the NCAA championship.

Since competing against one another, the men have formed a friendship that has transcended their battles on the mat. Today, they continue to bring awareness of the sport, sportsmanship, and their schools to others.
