An Important Message to the MHS Community

The Milton Hershey School (MHS) is dedicated to providing your child with a safe environment in which to live and learn. We recently received confirmation that an alumnus of MHS secured a student list in 2011 from a minor who formerly attended the School, all without informing MHS or obtaining parental consent. Although the student list secured by the alumnus is now six years old, the confirmation of this conduct is disturbing, and reminds us of the importance of monitoring students’ online activity.

Please be assured that we are doing our part to ensure the safety and security of our students’ online activity while on the MHS campus and while utilizing MHS internet resources. To that end, the alumnus in question has been banned from campus and School-sponsored events, and has been directed to cease any attempts to contact MHS students in any manner absent parental consent. MHS has advised the individual that it will pursue all legal recourse should he make further attempts to secure unauthorized information from or about minor students affiliated with MHS.

At MHS, we work tirelessly to create a safe learning environment for your student. We will not allow that safety to be compromised in any manner by anyone who would seek to contact a student without parental consent. If you would like more information or guidance on how to protect your student online, please contact MHS Family Relations at (800) 283-0001.

Thank you for your support and partnership in teaching and guiding our students so they grow to lead happy and fulfilling lives.
