Lulu Tunis ’04 brags about two things in her life: Milton Hershey School and IKEA.
“My two obsessions are working for IKEA and Milton Hershey School,” she said. “It’s what I talk about most. I love my job and I’m not really sure where I would be without Milton Hershey School.”
Lulu enrolled at MHS in 1993 as a first grader. Her brother also was a student at the time.
“Having my brother here and having a lot of kids my age really helped me adjust and flourish,” she said. “I was very involved. I joined anything I could and I loved it that way.”
After graduating in 2004, Lulu struggled to find her stride at college. She attended multiple schools and community colleges only to find her passion in the work force. She joined the IKEA company in customer service and now works as a resource coordinator for the IKEA property team.
“My job is very busy,” Lulu said. “I get to travel and help build new IKEA stores. Right now, we’re busy because we’re expanding and building 46 new stores. I like that I get collaborate with so many different people, and we have a good work/life balance.”
Lulu continues to take courses and will soon graduate with a degree in business.
“My advice for students is to explore what you’re interested in and also explore what you aren’t interested in,” she said. “You never know where you’ll find your talents or your strengths. Talk to people; talk to alumni; talk to your fellow students; and talk to teachers. Get to know who you are and what you can do. That’s where you’ll find your potential.”
