Milton Hershey School (MHS) is seeking a highly qualified School Social Worker for MHS’s Middle Division Students.  The Middle Division enrolls over 600 lower-income students in grades 5 – 8.  The School Social Worker collaborates with fellow MHS staff and students’ families of origin or guardians to support the students for success in their middle school experience and beyond.  MHS’s School Social Workers provide clinical services and service delivery support within the division.  Core responsibilities include: 

  • Providing case management to meet students’ needs.
  • Providing direct therapeutic support services (individualized and group).
  • Providing case management and consultative support to service provider teams which includes creating individualized plans to address student needs.
  • Serving as part of an interdisciplinary team of health, scholastic and residential care professionals to maintain continuity of student care from admission to post-enrollment.
  • Facilitating support and community linkage support via discharge planning.
  • Offering consultation and professional development training to MHS staff and families of origin.
  • Serving as primary point of contact for outside agencies such as CYS.  
  • Reviewing legal documents (custody directives, welfare directives, etc.), updates databases, ensures compliance & communicates appropriately.  
  • Assists with special projects and school wide initiatives.    

 

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree in Social Work required.
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker required.  LCSW eligible considered
  • 3 or more years of experience in a similar role working with youth from lower income in schools, health care or community care setting.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills including the ability to influence, collaborate, lead, train others, and manage crisis.
  • Exceptional organizational skills including the ability to multi-task in a dynamic environment with competing priorities. 
  • Proficient with Microsoft applications, database utilization, and electronic record-keeping.
  • Fluency in Spanish a plus.
  • Candidates must demonstrate a high degree of integrity as all MHS staff are role models for MHS students.
  • Must be willing to actively engage with students beyond the scope of the job responsibilities.
