All students in pre-K through 12th grade participate in VPA and have access to classes, activities, and performing groups. MHS is seeking an Ancillary Marching Band Percussion Instructor for our senior division Marching Band. Duties will include assisting the band director, leading the drumline, collaborating with the pit percussion instructor, and adapting/arranging music for developing percussion students. Must be able to commit to approximately 200 hours per marching band season (late August through December).
Marching Band rehearsals are typically Tuesday and Thursday afternoons/evenings and Saturday mornings. Accompanying the marching band to football games (home and away) and marching exhibitions is an expectation of the position.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in music and previous marching percussion instruction experience preferred.
- Battery Percussion Skills.
- Previous experience working with children & youth preferred.
- Establishing strategies to train & invest in student skill development.
- Availability to work throughout the season - August through December.
- Candidate should demonstrate a high degree of integrity, as all MHS staff are role models for MHS students.
