Milton Hershey School is seeking a Home Life Training Specialist to provide training and support to Home Life staff to contribute to the overall effectiveness of the residential operations of the School.  Responsibilities include:

-Conducting needs analysis and developing training and developmental experiences.

-Providing new hire orientation and training programs (including all affiliated logistics). 

-Providing ongoing instruction, coaching and feedback to residential staff. 

-Ensuring availability to staff for consults and advisements as needed. 

-Monitoring progress and evaluating the effectiveness of training and development activities.  Providing reporting to management regarding outcomes. 

-Recommending and implementing adjustments and enhancements accordingly.

-Participating in divisional and other meetings to contribute to operational plans and enhancements, programming, and employee development. 

-Contributing to systems and operational improvements of the division’s residential operations.

-Collaborating extensively with HP Leads, Mentors, HLA’s and others within Home Life.

-Collaborating with other divisions and departments to facilitate excellent communication, continuity, and alignment across the organization.

-Collaboratively contributing to and developing long-range planning.

-Contributing to Houseparent selection through investing time with candidates (lunches, tours, etc) and providing feedback.

-Pro-actively learning new technology, new adult education techniques, and changes within Home Life or MHS.   

(This position does not require on-call duties, thus housing is not included.) 

Qualifications:

-Master’s degree in Training and Development or related fields.

-At least 5 years of successful experience as a Houseparent or similar role to diverse children and youth from lower-income backgrounds.

-Prior experience in adult education or training a plus. 

-Exceptional interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate, educate, facilitate, collaborate, evaluate, influence, negotiate, and inspire. 

-Exceptional verbal, written, and platform skills. 

-Demonstrated exceptional organizational skills – particularly the ability to multi-task in fast-paced environments with multiple competing demands and ongoing change. 

-Strong computer skills including the use of Microsoft and Apple applications, learning technology, and social media.  Familiarity with Apple products a plus.

-Driver’s license in good standing.

-Maintain CPR and other safety required certifications, including driver’s safety instruction.

-Available to work a variable schedule including early mornings, evenings and weekends.

-Must be willing to pro-actively engage with students. -Must demonstrate a high degree of integrity as all MHS staff are considered role models for MHS students.
