Milton Hershey School (MHS) is currently seeking a part-time Barber to work up to 29 hours a week in the School’s Hair Salon – Spartan Styles This position is responsible for the hair care of MHS students from Pre-K through 12th grade. 

 

This position provides barbering services (clipper and scissor cuts) for our male students, and it is important for the barber to have experience with all types of hair and cutting techniques. Enhancing and maintaining healthy hair for students by providing instruction in grooming and hygiene is also an important part of the job. 

 

Hours are scheduled as needed, by the Spartan Styles Salon - Monday through Saturday. Barbers should be available to work Monday through Thursday starting at 3:00 p.m. -  9:00 p.m. and occasional Friday afternoons and Saturday mornings as needed from 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.   Approximately 20-29 hours per week when students are in school, and it cannot be guaranteed as it’s determined by scheduling requests from the students. This position is paid at an hourly rate (NOT “per head/tip basis”). Hourly rate will be based on years of experience, starting at $22.05 an hour. Part-time employees do not receive benefits. 

Qualifications:

  • Current PA State Certification
  • Barber or Cosmetology License
  • Strong Barbering skills (scissor & clipper cuts)
  • Experience working with young children and giving hair care services to students (Pre-K to 12 grade)  
  • Efficient and effective work habits
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Candidates should be willing to actively engage with students. 
  • Must demonstrate a high level of integrity, as all MHS Staff are considered to be role models for MHS Students.
