MHS is currently seeking a Director, Real Estate to oversee a portfolio of over 160 properties and over 2,200 acres.  Under the direction of the Vice President of Finance and Shared Services, this Director is responsible for the oversight of all Milton Hershey School Trust Directly Held Real Estate including strategic planning, acquisitions, dispositions, leasing, and property management.  The Director is responsible for assuring that the real estate holdings are in alignment with MHS’s strategic plan and campus master plan so that all MHS’s real estate needs are met. 

The Director, Real Estate’s key accountabilities include: 

  • Lead real estate strategic planning and coordinate the real estate master plan.
  • Lead acquisitions, gifs, sales, leasing, easements, etc.
  • Maintain current inventory records.
  • Collaboratively ensure exceptional property maintenance and perform annual appraisals.
  • Oversee annual financial projections and tax record keeping.
  • Coordinate the capital plan. 
  • Supervise 3 team members.
  • Develop and maintain strong stakeholder relationships. 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.  Master’s degree preferred.
  • 8 or more years of experience in real estate management and a brokerage license. 
  • Certified Property Manager and/or Certified Commercial Investment Member a plus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft applications and real estate related software. 
  • Demonstrated depth of knowledge of real estate markets, regulations, and best practices. 
  • Demonstrated success in innovative problem-solving and astute decision-making.
  • Exceptional skills in independently managing multiple competing priorities and projects. 
  • Exceptional leadership skills including keen relationship building and negotiation skills.
  • Exceptional level of professionalism, discretion, and attention to detail. 
  • Candidates must demonstrate a high degree of integrity as all staff are role models for students.
  • Candidates should be eager to actively engage with MHS students.
