Milton Hershey School (MHS) is a tuition free, home, and private school for over 2,000 Pre-K through 12th grade students. MHS provides cost-free medical, dental, and psychological services to students. We do this through top-notch staff and state-of-the-art facilities, including a 40-bed health center, three school nurse clinics, and three dental clinics.
MHS is currently seeking a Full-Time 10-Month* Dental/Orthodontic Assistant. This position will assist the dentist/orthodontist and maximize the delivery of related dental/orthodontic services including, chair-side assisting during orthodontic, and operative, preventive, and emergency procedures. Ability to expose and process digital x-rays. Attend annual training in OSHA, CPR and First Aid. Maintain and track records for general and orthodontist dentistry. Maintain and sterilize instruments and equipment according to OSHA/CDC regulations. Scheduling clinic and referral appointments for students in campus clinics. Maintain accurate dental records, schedule specialist appointments and transportation needs. Daily access to computer for information (E-mail communications, Off Campus Reports, Absentee reports, Personnel bulletins, schedule changes and updates). Familiarity with Dentrix and/or Dolphin computer software systems a plus. Update charts, maintain equipment and inventory; collect and compile date - record keeping for weekly, monthly, and annual reports. Provide secretarial duties, (telephone, typing and filing).
*A 10-month work schedule typically includes a summer break (early June to Aug 1). Work Schedule: Monday - Friday from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm. We offer our full-time employees generous health and insurance benefits (medical, dental, vision, life insurance, etc.). Hourly pay rate: $21.00 to $26.00, pay is determined by experience.
Qualifications:
• Vocational or other technical school, certification, training, or apprenticeship beyond High School, required.• Minimum 2 years' experience in family, pediatric or orthodontic practice performing hands-on chair-side assistance.• PA X-ray certification required (demonstrate either two contact hours or four continuing education units every four years to satisfy DEP requirements).• Ability to take accurate dental records: digital photos, Cephalometric, panoramic, and intra-oral films, and mount films properly for evaluation.• Take dental impressions; pour and trim diagnostic casts.• Strong clinical chair-side assisting skills.• Working knowledge of dental terminology and armamentarium.• Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills to communicate post-operative and oral hygiene instruction required.• Computer skills and ability to learn new systems quickly. Familiarity with Dolphin and Dentrix a plus• CPR/AED & First Aid Certification.• OSHA training.• Spanish Fluency a plus.• Candidate must demonstrate a high degree of integrity, as all MHS staff are role models for MHS students.
