Milton Hershey School (MHS) is seeking a full-time (12-Month) Clothing Associate II (Alterations). This position is required to perform all related tasks necessary to provide a complete wardrobe and linen items for MHS students. Some of the responsibilities are: 

  • Make required alterations to MHS issued clothing to include coats, suits, pants, etc.
  • Provide limited alterations to prom gowns and prom suiting
  • Press clothing after alteration is completed as needed.
  • Prepare clothing for shipment to appropriate student home. 
  • Repair/replace zippers in clothing, coats or sleeping bags if needed.
  • Repair sleeping bags if warranted.
  • Refurbish and repair suits or coats for restocking.
  • Adjust and recommend repairs to sewing machines.
  • Fabricate items as needed (pillowcases, bags, tablecloths, etc.)
  • Assist Scouts or Security Dept. with patches 
  • All general clothing associate duties relative to outfitting students with a full MHS wardrobe, re-stocking the department and physical inventory functions.

Bargaining Unit with OPS-464.

Work Schedule: Full-time-Flex with 40 hrs of scheduled work and a minimum of two (2) days off - Monday through Friday, as needed (flexible/split shift schedule based on needs during fall and spring fitting seasons). Ability to work day and evenings hours during fitting seasons.




  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience performing all clothing alterations required
  • Perform all necessary students’ clothing fitting to MHS’s standards
  • Experience using various types of sewing machines (single needle machine, blind hemmer and overlock) to provide professional alterations in a high-volume environment
  • Fitting or retail experience and customer service knowledge
  • Experience with physical inventory/cycle counting
  • Knowledge of size standards and school clothing guidelines a plus
  • Ability to communicate with different age groups, and to adapt to new and changing environment
  • Must have the ability to safeguard confidential information
  • Demonstrated high degree of integrity, as all MHS staff are role models for MHS students.
  • Proficiency in Spanish a plus.
