Barber/Hairstylist – Part-time

Milton Hershey School (MHS) is currently seeking a part-time Barber to work up to 29 hours a week in the School’s Hair Salon – Spartan Styles This position is responsible for the hair care of MHS students from Pre-K through 12th grade.
This position provides barbering services (clipper and scissor cuts) for our male students, and it is important for the barber to have experience with all types of hair and cutting techniques. Enhancing and maintaining healthy hair for students by providing instruction in grooming and hygiene is also an important part of the job.
Hours are scheduled as needed, by the Spartan Styles Salon - Monday through Saturday. Barbers should be available to work Monday through Thursday starting at 3:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. and occasional Friday afternoons and Saturday mornings as needed from 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Approximately 20-29 hours per week when students are in school, and it cannot be guaranteed as it’s determined by scheduling requests from the students.
This position is paid at an hourly rate (NOT “per head/tip basis”). MHS stylists are paid at an hourly rate (NOT "per head/tip basis") based on the experience. Part-time employees are eligible for a retirement savings plan, an employee assistance program (EAP), free lunches when on duty, and Hershey area discounts. Hourly pay rate: $22.71 to $37.41, pay is determined on the experience.
Qualifications:
- Current PA State Certification.
- Barber or Cosmetology License.
- Strong Barbering skills (scissor & clipper cuts).
- Prior experience working in a professional beauty/barber shop, preferred.
- Experience working with youth and giving hair care services to children from Pre-K to 12 grade.
- Demonstrated professional demeanor and solid time management & organizational skills, required.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate in a diverse workplace and to interact professionally with adults, children and youth.
- Skills in Microsoft & Google applications, Internet, preferred.
- Proficiency in Spanish a plus.
- Candidates should be willing to actively engage with students beyond the scope of their job responsibilities.
- Must demonstrate a high level of integrity, as all MHS Staff are considered to be role models for MHS Students.
