Starting My Next Chapter

Since my last blog, I received some BIG news that I had been waiting to hear for what felt like an eternity. I was accepted to the Rochester Institute of Technology and plan to study Advertising Photography and Graphic Design starting in the fall. I’m so happy that I was able to find my passion in designing graphics and so much more at Milton Hershey School with amazing teachers and mentors like Mrs. Harmon and Mr. DeAcosta who always believed in me and continued to help me grow in my skills.Tatiana after completing her graduation

Without MHS I wouldn’t be able to look at a school like RIT simply because of the price that comes with it.

Because I worked hard in my academics and had exceptional behavior throughout my years of high school, I earned my entire continuing education scholarship that is allowing me to be able to pay for RIT… my dream school.

Just in talking with other accepted students at RIT, I realized there is a huge difference being a Milt. Most other students are worried about being away from home, money, and academics, but because of all that MHS has taught me, I am confident in my abilities to succeed at RIT.

I’ve learned that it’s possible to establish a family and home away from home. I’ve learned to budget my money and am able to not worry about tuition because of all the scholarships I’ve received. And since I’ve completed the Temple Program, where I took five general education course with Temple University, I know what to expect from a more demanding academic schedule.

I’m very excited to go off to college and start the next chapter of my life, though I am sad to leave my family and home here at MHS. I know that I will be back to visit when I can, and I will stay in touch with everyone that is a part of my MHS family.
