MHS Seniors Prepare for College in Writing Workshop

This week, more than 80 seniors completed a two-day writing workshop as part of the school’s Year-Round Experiences (YRE) program. The workshop was led by a Temple University professor who introduced the students to Common Application essay prompts, which are accepted by multiple colleges.

MHS students wrote rough drafts of their college application essays after reviewing the prompts. They also learned how to write persuasively, brand themselves, and achieve proper grammar, spelling, and sentence structure.

More than 80 seniors completed a two-day writing workshop as part of the school’s Year-Round Experiences (YRE) program.

“The college writing course helped students understand what a college-level class requires and introduced them to a college professor,” said Anna Bires, MHS Year-Round Experiences Coordinator. “It was a very practical two-day lesson in writing.”

Milton Hershey School students can participate in the YRE program throughout the summer. They complete a variety of enrichment activities, including health and wellness exercises, skill-building workshops, athletics, and other exciting educational experiences that support their classroom learning.
