Marilyn Pantoja ’03

Marilyn Pantoja ’03 received the MHS Alumni Achievement Award for Community Service in 2013. Career-wise, she is currently a supervisor R.N. – care, case, and disease management.

Marilyn Pantoja ’03 received the MHS Alumni Achievement Award for Community Service in 2013. Career-wise, she is currently a supervisor R.N. – care, case, and disease management.

Following the 2010 earthquake in Haiti, Marilyn volunteered through The Foundation for Peace for a medical mission trip to Haiti.  During the mission trip, she served as an ICU/CCU nurse for two months providing direct care to patients displaced at refugee camps after the earthquake. Closer to home, Marilyn has participated in programs for students at MHS, including serving as a Career Day speaker, a panelist for the Senior Division Dearden Alumni Campus Sunday program, and as a participant in the “Girls Day with the Grads” program for eighth-grade girls. She also has dedicated a great deal of time to promoting wellness in at-risk children and families.

Previously, Marilyn was the health and nutrition supervisor for the Early Head Start Home-Based Program at the Children’s Home Society of New Jersey in Trenton, N.J. She was responsible for monitoring the health status of 72 pregnant women, and children from birth through age three, by ensuring that they had a medical home, dental home, and up-to-date immunizations. She also provided ongoing parent and staff training on health, nutrition, and safety-related topics.

Marilyn holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the College of New Jersey, a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, and a Master of Science degree in nursing leadership and management. She was inducted into Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Honor Society in 2013.

In addition to being a registered nurse, she is a Doula, Certified Educator of Infant Massage, and an accomplished speaker and trainer. She hopes to continuously advance her career on local and national efforts in the areas of health promotion and disease prevention.
